A Beautiful Mother’s Day Celebration

Good morning! So far this weekend has been amazing! Started Friday evening with a short shopping trip to the outlet malls on the way to my parents’ house in Adrian.  Noah and I both got some new clothing items – Noah got casual clothes and I got some new clothes for work.

We arrived at my parents’ house around 10 pm on Friday and after just a few minutes of catching up with my mom and dad, we headed to bed as we were both pretty tired.

Saturday morning was a little cloudy and cool, but Noah and I headed out for a quick 3.2 mile run on a great local trail before partaking in some delicious blueberry baked oatmeal my mom made for breakfast.  The rest of the day on Saturday turned out to be an absolutely gorgeous day! It was sunny and in the mid-upper 70s.  We spent the day in my parents’ backyard with my aunt, brother, sister-in-law, nieces, cousins and their kids. My brother’s birthday was on Friday so we had a combined birthday and Mother’s Day celebration.

I just love my parents’ backyard – they’ve lived in this house for 30 years and really love gardening and being outside. They’ve done an awesome job creating a tranquil outdoor space in the middle of town.

As always there was no shortage of delicious eats.  Not pictured here – chicken wings made by my dad that were amazing! I also had a hamburger (hold the bun please), cauliflower salad, potato salad, a deviled egg, olives, spinach salad, and (also not pictured) fruit salad.  For dessert there was blueberry cobbler, brownies, ice cream, and homemade peppermint patties.  I was so full from dinner that I only was able to eat a peppermint patty.  It was delicious! I got the recipe from my aunt so I’ll surely be making those soon!

Josie Jane!

She sure does love her milk!

IMG_1076Noah and I headed home late last night as we both agree it’s nice to spend Sunday at home – getting ready for the week ahead and trying to relax if we can.  Breakfast this morning was a big one – but hopefully it’ll hold us over until an early dinner.  Scrambled eggs with spinach, turkey smoky links, and pancakes. Yum-o!

We’re working on the relaxing part of Sunday now – drinking coffee and catching up on some episodes of Cosmos.  On tap for today: grocery shopping, cooking, spending time outside again as it’s supposed to be beautiful (at least until it storms later), and I’m going to start studying for my Nutrition Coach certification – I got my book printed so it’ll be easier for me to take with me wherever I go…pretty excited about it – nerdy, I know, but I don’t care! 🙂

Happy Sunday!
