NatureBox and An Early Birthday Present

Today was a day of treats and surprises! Our most recent NatureBox arrived today!  First of all, I LOVE getting packages (so these subscription services are awesome!) and second of all, I really enjoy the snacks we’ve been getting in our boxes.  They seem to be just the right amount to get us through the month and we’ve only had one snack out of three boxes that we really did not like at all.

This month’s box contained Cashew Power Clusters, Pistachio Power Clusters (we’ve had both of these before and wanted them again they’re so good! They’re a little sweet, super crunchy, and absolutely delicious!), Cranberry Almond Bites (we tried the Mango Almond Bites last month and those were my favorite so far!), Cinnamon Spice Almonds (tried those immediately and they were tasty), and Black and White Granola (chocolate and vanilla granola).

I went for all sweet snacks this time around as that seems to be where Noah and I fall short in the healthy eating category.  After just about every meal I want to eat something sweet.  I’m usually okay at lunch time because I have fruit or yogurt, but after dinner is where I want ice cream or chocolate – or something else equally not as good for me :-(.  So we’ll see how these sweet treats help us to curb the sugary cravings.

The star of tonight’s dinner was this Asparagus and Tomato Carbonara pasta.  This was delicious!  We also had some grilled turkey Italian Sausage with it.  I’ll post the recipe for this yummy pasta soon.

A neat surprise after dinner was an early birthday present from that awesome husband of mine, Noah B.! My birthday’s not for almost 2 more weeks, but he said he wanted me to have it before then so I could try it out…

A GPS watch for running! I am sooooo excited to use this.  I’ve wanted one for a while now, but haven’t been able to bring myself to buy one.  I normally use my phone with the MapMyRun app, but this will be a nice change so I don’t have to lug my clunky phone with me all the time. Now I just need to figure out how to use it (I can be slightly technologically challenged at times 🙂 )!

Another sweet after dinner treat was some ice cream.  I LOVE ice cream.  I try not to keep it in the house because I have little to no self control when it comes to the sweet, creamy, cold treat.  I had to stop at the grocery store on my way home from work for a couple other items and picked up a couple of these little guys for Noah and I.  They’re the perfect size – just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth, but not too much where I make myself sick or have to feel bad about it.

Now I’m working on trying to figure out how to make a Yu-Gi-Oh cake for our nephew’s birthday party on Saturday.  The cakes themselves are cooling, but I am not artistic at all so pulling off the anime character in cake decorations will be an interesting challenge for me.  Wish me luck!
