Chocolate PB Shake and Beautiful Morning Run

Well I didn’t sleep in this morning, but I also didn’t get up as early as I had planned and we didn’t make it to the gym.  We did however go out for a short run this morning – just 2.9 miles, but it was a gorgeous morning and we got to see the sunrise which was amazing!

Once we got home I whipped up a yummy Chocolate PB Banana Shake for breakfast. See the recipe below.

Chocolate PB Banana Shake

12 oz milk (I used plain unsweetened Almond Milk)

1 1/2 frozen bananas** See tip below

2 handfuls greens – I used Earthbound Organics Power Blend (kale, spinach, and chard)

4 Tbs oats

2 Tbs cocoa powder

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

3 Tbs peanut butter

Whip it all together in a blender and enjoy!

Make about 2 servings.

** Tip: We buy a bunch of bananas every week, but inevitably they always get too ripe before we can eat them all.  I peel and cut up the ripe bananas into 1 inch chunks and pop in a baggie in the freezer – that way you’ve (almost) always got frozen bananas for smoothies (or banana ice cream!) on hand.

Happy Friday! I’m enjoying some coffee while relaxing and catching up on some reading – running, wellness, and nutrition articles! – then I’m off to run some errands and go to the quiz bowl!
